Studio Director, Dance Instructor
Amie Papa-Little is the Founder and Director at Synergy DPC. After teaching, coaching, and flying throughout the US working for Studios, Colleges, High Schools, and Organizations from1993, she was approached by the director of another studio in Yuba City, CA and asked to take over. In July 2009 she relocated, and opened "Synergy Dance Production Company" with only 24 students and after 24 months of new ownership has jumped to over 100 dancers.
Amie's dance training started early under the focused and direct attention of Miss Searl at the age of 5 in Oroville, CA. She floated through different teachers until she landed at Lynn's Dance Arts In Gridley, CA in 1987 under the direction of her cousin Lynn Barrow-Leishman. Here at LDA, Amie was a member of the Competition team for 6 years under Lynn and Ballet Professional Lorie Conlin, recently of City Dance Centre of Yuba City. She had the experiences of training workshops and Conventions with San Francisco Ballet Co., Tremaine, Dupree, and Company Dance under the direction of Paula Abdul. During this time she also held titles such as Missette Butte County 1st Runner up, Miss Butte County 2nd Runner up
and Miss Congeniality.
After High School she continued her dance education at UVSC in Orem, Utah in 1995. Here, Amie Auditioned for 2 teams "Elite Precision" UVSC Dance Team, and UVSC's Modern Dance Company; later voted name change to "Synergy" UVSC Modern Dance Company. "I couldn't seem to get off the dance floor," she replies with a smile when she remembers being at practices 14 hours per week… "and I loved every minute of it!"
After moving back to CA she continued her training under the direction of Marcie Chinchen at Butte College, a Master Instructor from San Diego State University. During 3 years of leading Butte College Dance Team as Captain, she was asked to join the USA Spirit Squad. Skipping auditions she flew back to Indianapolis, IN and trained with 50 dancers worldwide under the direction of New England Patriots Advisor and FSU (Florida State University) Coordinators. Amie Performed for the NCAA Final Four games in 1997 and was spotlighted on TV. Also during her years as Butte College team member she joined the staff of ASA (American Spirit Association) of San Jose,CA as Head Camp Director, and spent the year 1998 flying through CA from Redding to San Diego, and Reno teaching dance camps to Jr. High and High School recipients.
During the early years of marriage and motherhood Amie Coached at Davis Senior High, Corning YF, and Gridley High while traveling to teach once month workshop classes at LDA. In 2002 she took over as Head Dance Team Instructor for LDA and presided for 7 years. During her time as Team Instructor for LDA she took over for Senior Master Instructor Marcie Chinchen of Butte College. During her 5 years of teaching and coaching at Butte College she was contacted by Scott Eckern producer of the Sacramento Broadway Series to put on a historical CA musical "More Precious than Gold" in honor of the Sacramento Temple Dedication held at the Arco Arena in September 2006. Amie worked under the direction of Norman C. Boehm, chairman; Scott Eckern, producer; Kieth Merrill, writer and director; Paul Allen, music supervisor; and Janine Nelson, choreography supervisor and 40 other choreographers to instruct 5,000 youth from the ages of 12-18.
In July 2009 she relocated to Yuba City and founded "Synergy Dance Production Company" where she teaches jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, lyrical, and contemporary dance. Among her current staff she has specialty instructors in Ballet/Pointe, Hip Hop/Break Dancing and Yoga. She currently has her students perform for community events, nearby elementary schools, and travels to 4 competitions a year. Amie's students have placed Top Overall Score, earned Specialty Choreography Awards, and won High Gold,Gold and High Silver Awards.
